Enrollment now EXTENDED through April 30, 2014!

We are pleased to announce that enrollment is now further extended through April 30, 2014.  This will allow those interested to have a few more weeks to consider learning more about installing solar PV before the summer sun comes along with higher energy bills. Tell Others! Go Solar!

The key participant steps are:

  • Do your homework - see Homework Assignment 
  • Watch the online Information Session Meeting to learn about solar PV and the Solarize Plano Project - see Schedules and Presentations
  • If after completing these items you believe you are ready to have a site assessment by the selected solar company, then complete 2014 Decision Point 2 Form Questionnaire. We call this Decision Point 2.  
  • Last day to complete this questionnaire is now May 7, 2014.
Step 3:
  • Once your site assessment is complete and you have been provided a proposal by the selected solar company, then you are at Decision Point 3. 
  • It is at this time that you decide whether or not to sign a contract with the selected solar company to install a system and make the long term investment to produce some of your own LOCAL CLEAN electricity for the future! 
  • Last day to sign a contract is May 15, 2014.

Enrollment EXTENDED through April 20, 2014!

We are pleased to announce that enrollment is extended through April 20, 2014 to allow for those attending the Learn 2 Live Green Expo on April 12th (www.learn2livegreen.com) to have time to participate! Tell Others! Go Solar!

2014 Solarize Plano Project - Mid-March Update

While we are continuing to encourage new participants to enroll (**** ENROLL HERE  ****) through April 15, 2014, it is now time for already enrolled participants to consider proceeding with Decision Point 2.  If you have done your homework and participated in one of the Information Session Meetings, it is now time to consider your next step.

As described in Participant Decision Points, complete the 2014 Decision Point 2 Form Questionnaire to move forward with Decision Point 2 no later than April 15, 2014

2014 Solarize Plano Project Open for Enrollment!


The 2014 Solarize Plano Project is now OPEN for enrollment! Learn about the "solarize", or group purchase concepts, by reading the information in the "About" page of this website. (Updated: See City of Plano Press Release)

  • the more people that signup and elect to have PV solar systems installed, the larger the potential group purchase discount

  • Complete our online survey which should help you frame your thoughts and understanding of solar energy. It takes about 10-15 minutes to complete, and is available on this webpage - www.planosolar.org/p/survey.html

  • Make plans to attend one of the Information Sessions (shown below).
    • Reminder - we need at least 5 enrollees to participate in the selection process as part of a RFP (request for proposal) Team. Please consider being part of the RFP Team.

Information Sessions
Solar company selected by participant RFP Review Team - no later than March 31, 2014

Decision Point 2 - Move forward with proposal
  • After doing your homework and participating in information sessions, you determine that you are a good candidate for a PV solar system. You then decide to proceed with a home site assessment and obtain a quote from the project selected company.
  • As described in Participant Decision Points, complete the 2014 Decision Point 2 Form Questionnaire to move forward with Decision Point 2 no later than April 15, 2014
Decision Point 3 - Sign contract
  • You have reviewed the contract provided by the project selected company and you sign the contract to proceed with the installation.
  • no later than May 15, 2014

2014 Solarize Plano Project - Looking for Volunteers

Plano Solar Advocates is considering the launch of a second Solarize Plano Project beginning in 2014!

We are looking for volunteers located in neighborhoods across the city to help in the early planning of the project.  In particular, we are searching for persons who would be:
  1. interested in participating in the solar company selection process, 
  2. helping to organize and spread the word about local information sessions to be held in their neighborhoods.

Enrollment Re-opened - Limted Time!

Solarize Plano Pilot Project Enrollment re-opened through Oct 31, 2013!

Due to a shift in Oncor incentive funding availability, the Solarize Plano Project has decided to re-open enrollment for a limited time to give additional Plano residents the opportunity to GO SOLAR!

Follow the steps below to enroll and prepare for your participation in the project.

  2. Review and perform the homework exercise described here - Homework Assignment
  3. Watch and review the on-demand Youtube Information Session - see Schedules and Presentations
  4. Review the brief list of Frequently Asked Questions - see Solarize Plano Project Frequently Asked Questions
  5. Review the participants Decision Points descriptions - see Participant Decision Points
  6. If your response to Decision Point 2 (DP2) is "Yes" or "Maybe" - provide the necessary responses to the questions described in the document - Participant Decision Points
After completing these steps and providing your responses to the DP2 questions, your contact information and your responses related to Decision Point 2 will be provided to the selected solar company.  This company will then contact you to arrange a site assessment and a solar system installation proposal.
